Review of Covenant in Club Control, April 8, 2010 – a Viva Music event

Covenant – electro fiords and electro-balcanic sound in Club Control, April 8, 2010

On the night of April 8, Control Club hosted the concert of the Swedish band Covenant, a Viva Music event under the brand Electronik, organized under the high patronage of the Swedish Embassy.

Covenant justified their years of international success through a visibly refined and well polished stage presence. Eskil Simmonsson, Joakim Montelius and Daniel Myer delighted an audience of Romanians, Swedes, Germans, Irish people and Bulgarians, during a 2 hour exquisite show. The artists took “control” of an enthusiastic public, managing to fill the club that is already famous for promoting quality music.

The Swedes’ concert was opened by Brazda lui Novac (Victor Popescu) and visuals made by Vali Chincinsan. Brazda lui Novac caught the eye of the band agents attending the event, and got an engagement for a future international festival. Covenant members congratulated Victor for the show and presented him with interest for future collaborations.

The atmosphere of the concert was one filled with adrenaline and empathy. Eskil Simonsson was at times the cool performing artist on stage, at others the showman meant to entertain the audience and even melt into the crowd, breaking the barrier between the performer and the fan. The Swedish frontman didn’t hesitate to briefly storytell his experiences in Romania and thank the public constantly between singing Covenant hit singles (“Bullet”, “We Stand Alone”, “Call the Ships to Port”, “Brave New World”, “Like Tears in Rain”, “Ritual Noise”) and also songs from the future album, “Modern Ruin”.

The element of surprise of the show was not only the homogeneous setlist, but also the live performance, which combined majesty with romance, giving the crowd strong sensations and winning them over with a refined sound.

Viva Music wishes to thank the media partners, the guests and the friends that made this event possible and affectionately welcomes all of you to future Electronik events.
